Compression Packing Cubes
Two-zip cubes that hold a folded stack, then squeeze it down so the same clothes take less room in the case.
What it is
A compression cube is a soft box with two zips. The first one closes it like an ordinary packing cube. The second runs a little lower round the body of the cube, and pulling it round folds the walls in on themselves, so the stack of clothes inside loses the air between the layers. Nothing is vacuum sealed and nothing needs a pump — it is the zip doing the work, which is why it still works in a hotel room at midnight.
What you get out of it is not magic capacity. It is a case that stays packed the way you left it. Clothes that are held in a compressed block do not slide about on the way to the airport, so the case does not need repacking when you open it, and the space you saved is usually enough for the pair of shoes or the coat that normally goes over your arm.
